My research that led to the award of the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2002 at the University of New South Wales was on the way six Victorian secondary colleges managed change in the interests of the achievement, engagement and well-being of their students.

Over the past ten years I have developed resources and professional learning material, and delivered professional development on a range of topics:

  • Peer coaching to improve teaching and learning
  • Leadership coaching and action research
  • Philosophy for children
  • High school philosophical community of inquiry
  • Boys Education
  • Ramon Lewis’s developmental management approach to classroom behaviour
  • Project for Enhanced Effective Learning Principles and Procedures
  • The Hero’s Journey: an inquiry research model
  • William Glasser’s Choice Theory
  • Whole Brain Teaching and Learning

While a few of these were delivered hour long or 90 minute presentations or workshops, most involved 5 and 13 hours of workshops involving meeting with groups of teachers on between 2 and 6 occasions.

I currently am developing a 'Framework for Powerful Learning' as a flexible conceptual framework designed to transform the learning culture of a school, sub-school, year level or classroom.

Please contact me if you would like to discuss your school being a part of the ongoing research on the 'Framework'.
