Hannan and Echeverria's Questions for thinking that is Critical, Creative, Caring and Collaborative
Published in 2009, Philosophy with Teenagers: Nurturing a moral imagination for the 21st century by Patricia Hannan & Eugenio Echeverria (68-70) provides examples of questions that clearly show how philosophical community of inquiry develops crticial, creative, caring and collaborative thinking.
Questions for critical thinking: What would follow from that? Can any one think of an example when that would not be the case? Is that always the case? Can you think of another situation when that would apply?
Questions for creative thinking: What if everyone in the world thought that ... ?, What would happen if the opposite were the case?, How does the possibility raised by ... contribute to your own ideas?
Questions for caring thinking: Can we think of another examle that would support ...'s point on this question? Would all people in all countries agree with this point? Can we think of an example from the world where this might not be the case? Can we just listen to ... as she has been trying to say something for a while. Is there anyone who has not spoken yet who would like to contribute?
Questions for collaborative thinking: Does everyone agree with ... on this point?, Who agrees/disagrees with this idea?, Can anyone think of an example to support/counter this point of view?
